Strawn is a city in Palo Pinto County, Texas, United States. It has a population of 653 according to the last census. An average income of a family from Strawn is about $30.000. There are about 200 households in the city. The city is named after a rancher that was one of the first settlers of the area. The railroad and with it the settlers came to the area in the 1880s. Oil was discovered at the end of the 19th century but it was extracted in an organized way starting with 1915. In the 1940 the city had more than a 1.000 residents and it lost its population due to migrations during the Great Depression and the War.
