Sulphur Bluff is an unincorporated community in northeastern Hopkins County, Texas, United States. It has a population of about 300. The county is mostly known for its dairy industry and the residents of Sulphur Bluff also work in dairy farms. The area was first settled in 1842 and it had a workshop, mill, and gin. A bank opened after 1900, and by 1905 two local public schools were in operation with a total enrollment of ninety-six. The town continued to prosper during the first two decades of the twentieth century, and by 1925 the population had reached 300.
