Tarzan is an unincorporated community in Martin County, Texas, United States. It was in fact named after the fictional character Tarzan and that’s what often land it on the list of unusual city names. The city has a population of about 80 or at least it had in 2000 when it was last time surveyed. The city was formed in the 1920s. They decided on the name because the postal service declined a few other names they’ve tried and this was their form of protest. The comic book was probably popular in Tarzan at the time.
