The unincorporated community of Tennyson is found in Coke County in the US state of Texas. It is located at the intersection of Farm Road 23333 with the US Highway 277 and serves as Coke County’s county seat. Although this community is yet to be incorporated, it boasts of a post office whose ZIP code is 76953. According to the 2000 census, the community had a population of 64. Tennyson is named by Samuel Sayner after Alfred Lord Tennyson, a British poet. Sayner settled here in 1882. Tennyson was granted a post office in 1894, which also took over the roles of Mule Creek post office. Mule Creek would later be renamed Jupiter.
