Texarkana is a city in Bowie County, in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located at the intersection of I-30 and US 59, 67, 71, and 82. It was founded in 1873 and was named after the three neighboring states that border the area: Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Hence, the strategic location of the city acted as the catalyst for its growth and development. The city was one of the primary railroad centers of the Southwest. It also became a significant commercial and industrial center. The city acquires their goods from three natural resources: fertile agricultural lands, abundant and diversifies mineral deposits, and a rich timbered region. It is also the cultural, educational, and medical center of the metropolitan area. As of 2010, it has a population of 36,411.
