Texhoma is a city in Sherman County that can be found in the northernmost region of the U.S. state of Texas. It is a divided city that lies on the Texas-Oklahoma state border; hence, where it got its name from. Although the area started as a railroad stop in 1901, it wasn’t until 1906 that the settlement was platted and developed. Wagonyards and steam tractors became the town’s economic mainstays and soon enough, Texhoma had three churches, stores, a grain elevator, a bank, a school, and a boarding house that served its 300 residents. When a 1932 survey made the state line moved south of its original location, some establishments and businesses became on the side of Oklahoma. The town still managed to stay; ranching, grain production, and natural gas production became and remained to be the city’s primary industries but the number of residents never passed 400 counts. As of 2010, it has a population of 364.
