Uhland is a city in the counties of Caldwell and Hays, which are both located in the central region of the U.S. state of Texas. It was established in the 1890s and was named after Ludwig Uhland, a German poet and literary historian. Although Uhland only had a post office that operated for one decade, the settlement was known to be the home of businessmen who were noted for serving ranchers and cotton farmers in and around Plum Creek for more than five decades. The city was reported to have no businesses in 1970. Hence, the population was relatively low, barely touching 400 residents towards the 20th century. However, as of 2010, it has a population of 1,014.
