A Utopia is a census-designated place in Uvalde County, Texas. The name was after Juan de Ugalde who led united tribes of Comanche, Taovaya, and Tawakoni Indians to drive the Apaches from the site that is now called Utopia. In 1839 and 1841 there were reported battles with the Comanches in Sabinal Canyon. In 1852, Captain William Ware settled in which ended the battles. To remember him, the community was first called Waresville which was then changed to Montana in 1884. But another town had the name so the area was renamed as Utopia. Utopiafest is an annual music festival held in October.
