Located in southern Cooke County, Valley View was named after the view offered at the site of Spring Creek valley. The name was suggested by the Lee family in 1870. In 1886 The Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway reached the town. the Valley View school district was incorporated in 1902. Two fires struck the town in 1924, one caused the east side of the town square to be burned down while another was started by bank robbers when they robbed the First National Bank. In the late 1900s, sports events played a large role in the community with the varsity football team and the girls varsity basketball team.
