Waskom is a city situated in Harrison County in Texas. Waskom itself was established in the year 1850. The town was first known as Powell town, probably for a landowner in the area named Johnatan S. Powell. The city had a post office in the community from 1850 to 1872. The city’s name was changed in 1872 to Waskom Station, it was later on changed to Waskom in 1881. As stated by the U.S Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.7 square miles, all of it is land. The city of Waskom’s public education system is being provided by the Waskom Independent School District.
