White Oak is a city in Gregg County, in the U.S. state of Texas that is located at the intersection of US 80 and FM 3272, in the north-central part of the county. It was established in 1887 when a school was built in the area. It was named after the two white oak trees that grew near the school. The town experienced an oil boom in the 1930s which resulted to the rapid growth and development of the city. Despite the WWII, the number of residents continued to rise and White Oak was incorporated in 1960. As of 2010, it has a population of 6,469. The city is home to four famous football players, a singer and songwriter, and Kelcy Warren, a billionaire businessman who donated millions in the Texas city of Dallas to have a city park named after his son.
