The area that is now known as Whitesboro used to be called “Wolfpath”. Robert Diamond is labeled as one of the first settlers the area has seen, but the settlement of the town had only begun when Ambrose B. White and his family arrived in the area in 1848. The post office that went under the name of Whitesborough began working in the year 1860. The town itself was incorporated on the second of June in 1873. The spelling of the town’s name made that the town was renamed to “Whitesboro”. The town itself is located in Grayson County and has a population of 3,793 residents as of the 2010 census.
