Wilson is a small city situated in Lynn County in Texas. The town itself was founded in 1912 by William Dickson Green who came here from Shiner, Texas. Most of the city’s early settlers were Polish and German immigrants. These early settlers were coming from Wilson County School area situated in Lynn County and that is why the town is named this way. Wilson is situated on the Santa Fe Railroad and Farm to Market Road 400. The population grew slowly since its early years and reached its high in 1980 with 572 residents, but since then it has decreased a little bit and reached the number of 532 in the year 2000.
