Winnsboro is a city situated in both Franklin and Wood counties in Texas. The town was named after an early settler named John. E. Wynn. in the 1850s. The town was initially called Wynnsborough but was changed to Winnsborough when the town was granted a post office in 1855. It was renamed yet again in 1893 to its current form. The population of the town is 3,434 people as of the 2010 census. The city’s public education system is being provided by the Winnsboro Independent School District. The town has a total area of 9.65 square miles according to the U.S Bureau.
