Woodlake is an unincorporated coterie situated in Trinity County in Texas. The town’s initial settlement was in the mid-1860s but the community didn’t really start until the 1880s when a lumber company was established in the area. Woodlake was granted a post office in 1889 when it was named Willard. The post office operated until 1910. Before World War I happened, all of the lumber in the area was destroyed and the area was named Woodlake after what was left in the region in 1925 when a new post office opened. The town’s estimated population was around 301 as of the year 1990.
