The people behind Deep Ellum Urban Gardens wanted to provide opportunities for people to grow food for themselves. Growing gives them the opportunity to be active and avoid a sedentary lifestyle. Another benefit from this is allowing the people to get to know each other. So far, they have grown peppers, tomatoes, basil, and eggplants. It is a common sight to see gardeners and volunteers tending to the garden, especially on a beautiful, sunny day.
