In just four miles north of Kingsbury, lies the Flintrock Hill Farm. Jackie and Fred manage the farm today. In 1999, they built several hydroponic greenhouses to deal with the farm's lack of water supply. Since there is not a lot of surface water in the area and the water price continuously rises, they have both decided to grow plants in hydroponic systems instead. It has been a success since them. The farm sells strawberries, tomatoes, kale, arugula, swiss chard, spinach, kohlrabi, beets, green beans, squash, and more. Green Hills Poultry, LLC is located near D'Hanis, Texas, about 40 miles west of San Antonio. They raise pastured poultry and specialize in slower growing breeds that produce a unique taste. Mesquite Field Farm is a small off-grid cottage farm located South East of San Antonio. The owners of this farm are "the most wonderful people you will ever meet who truly have a passion for helping others learn about farming and ranching, especially veterans".
