Founded in 1877 as a railway stop, Queen City is an incorporated town located in eastern Cass County. Queen City took advantage of the sizeable deposits of iron ore in the area and built an iron foundry. The iron industry was abandoned not long after and was replaced with lumbering around 1890. The opening of the Rodessa oilfield in 1935 and the expansion of nearby Atlanta also helped to spur new growth. After 2000 the major industries were farming, forestry, oil, and tourism. The population of the town as of the 2010 census was 1,476 people.
