Friends and Allies Brewing Company founders Ben Sabin and Devin Ponds are “industry professionals”. The homebrewing enthusiasts bonded over their passion but charted different paths. Ponds moved to California and Sabin remaining in Austin. Both worked in the craft beer industry. Their passion eventually brought them back together in Austin and they hired Nathan Crane as head brewer for their new brewery. The company’s name is the Hasinais meaning for the word “Tejas” (or, “Texas”), which refers to a friend or ally. It reflects the company’s aim to be deeply rooted in Austin’s community. With a focus on “West Coast techniques”, the brewery “produces uniquely Texas beers steeped in West Coast brewing techniques”. Even their logo reflects this “dual state” and shows a wolf and a bear. Circle Brewing Company

Nashville natives Ben Sabel and Judson Mulherin founded Circle Brewing Company in 2010 making it the oldest microbrewery in North Austin. Adhering to the principles of the German Purity Law, the duo believes in combining the Law "with a little creativity and Texas ingenuity”. This philosophy results in award winning beers including their Alibi Blonde, which won silver at the 2014 World Beer Cup. In 2016, their Archetype Historical IPA won gold at the 2016 edition. Their Doppel Blur Imperial Hefe, meanwhile, took bronze at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival. Circle Brewing is popular with the Austin community because they host several unique events each year. For example, in 2019, the 0.5K Marathon at the brewery's parking lot is on its 6^th year. The brewery sold Fanny Pack Kolsch in rainbow-colored cans and donated $1 for each can sold to the non-profit.

4th Tap Brewing Cooperative

The 4^th Tap Brewing Cooperative is Texas’ first worker-owned brewery, and one of the first in the U.S. It took the founders 6 years of planning, and they finally opened in November 2015. Hi Sign Brewing takes its name from Hi Sign Road in Lincoln, Montana. The name stuck because Marine Corps veteran Mark Phillippe, the brewery’s founder, spent time with his Dad in a little cabin off Hi Sign Road. It was there that he developed his love for craft beers.
