Coastal Bend Distilling Co

Distillery in Beeville - 55.04 mi

Coastal Bend Brewing, in a county resolution, is the “Official Distillery of Bee County”. Opened in December 2018, owners Kenneth and Eveline Bethune wanted to invest in a company that “would benefit the local community (but) is not wholly dependent on the community for revenue”. The distillery takes its name after the recognizably South Texas part of Texas. The owners feel the company's name “captures” the South Texas pride in all their products. The distillery is currently waiting for their Texas Bourbon to age. Meanwhile, they offer four spirits including the so-called “accidental gin” named Lucky Star. “It is more of a non-gin-drinkers gin,” Kenneth says. The gin was "a happy accident" despite not having all the usual ingredients needed to create gin. The group also bottles blended whiskeys and offers Live Oak Vodka. The tasting room, made from a repurposed hardware store adjacent to the distillery, includes a dance hall available for special events.

AFT Distillery

Distillery in Luling - 89.30 mi

Edelbrand or “noble brandy” is a premium European fruit brandy created by following strict standards. Master distiller Alexandra Cantwell and husband KC are the founders of AFT Distillery, the only edelbrand producer in Texas. The usual fruit brandies produced today use fermented fruit juice. Edelbrands, meanwhile, require using only whole fruit without the additional sugars, flavors, or additives. This Alpine process, an 800-year old tradition, defines the category of edelbrands. The distillery released its first Alpengold apple, Williams pear, and cherry edelbrands in February 2018. This was after the couple spent four years quietly perfecting the craft to produce them. Despite many bumps in the road, the distillery’s quest to produce traditional artisanal brandies recently won it five of 18 medals in the brandy category of the 2019 American Craft Spirit Awards.

Dash Vodka Distillery

Distillery in Brookshire - 97.96 mi

Dash Vodka Distillery has a custom-designed, handcrafted copper pot still from Scotland and a fully automated bottling line. You may find their "vodka to be incredibly clean, but the flavor is very sharp and sticks with you even when mixed". This "Dash Vodka is made from Organic raisins and wheat, it is distilled 7 times, filtered through organic coconut husks". It is "never made out of potatoes nor GMO corn... this is truly a handmade vodka". It is made using organic wheat, sun-roasted Thomson raisins, and traditional fermentation and distillation processes. Plus, "the recipe is 150 years old". This "is so good it is actually a sipping vodka. There is nothing like it on the market!"

Azar Distilling

Distillery in San Antonio - 99.19 mi

Husband and wife Trey and Kimberly Azar founded Azar Distilling. Azar Distilling started with Cinco Vodka in 2009 but the couple took a circuitous route to establishing the distillery. Trey Azar was in the oil and gas business when he decided to go back to his roots in liquor. His grandparents were the first Coors distributor in Texas, and he was a wine salesman and buyer in a former lifetime. Kimberly, meanwhile, worked in the cosmetics industry. While on a business trip, Trey realized there’s a niche for a premium American vodka. Trademarking the brand Cinco Five Star after the number of kids he and Kimberly have, the couple were soon on their way to producing their award-winning vodka. The vodka takes five times longer to make, results in a vodka five times better tasting, but without the cost. Cinco Vodka is now part of Azar Family Brands. The Azars expanded their product line to include Seersucker Gins in 2016.

Cinco Vodka

Distillery in San Antonio - 99.19 mi

They do not have an online presence as of this writing since their website domain will be coming soon. Cinco Vodka's vodka has already won several awards from "international spirits competition". This vodka is "clean and smooth" and "it neglects the harsh, overly alcoholic characteristics present in many vodkas, even many in its price range". It is a “martini lovers vodka”. You can check out their social media page when you want to get some updates about their vodka.

Seersucker Distillery

Distillery in San Antonio - 99.20 mi

Seersucker Distillery "is a gem only found right outside San Antonio" with "great space indoors and outdoors". It is a "bit of a drive but once you’re there you want to come back immediately". Seersucker Distillery produced "some of the best cocktails" that are "tasty, refreshing and satisfying on a hot summer day". An "excellent venue to relax and appreciate a craft", their "gin is very underrepresented in the land of margaritas" but they still "thrives due to its distinctly southern honey and mint notes". When you visit, you should "order the flight because it comes with all three gin flavors" and "both vodkas".

Distillery in Katy - 102.45 mi

They have a "lot of fun outdoor games for the kids and pet-friendly as well". They are "the first distillery" located in "old town Katy". An "old but memorable place" to "get some booze" and a "great place to hang out". They make whiskeys, vodka, gin, and moonshine. If you visit "you should definitely try the Mule" and "do not miss out their specially aged whiskey called Engineer". You can also "take a tour if you have time".

Kooper Family Whiskey Co.

Distillery in Ledbetter - 105.04 mi

Kooper Family Whiskey Co. is just a quick drive from Austin, Houston, College Station and everywhere in between. The "interior is inviting, with dark tones and stacks of whiskey barrels" while "the outside of the facility is unassuming". Their "bar is stocked with their locally produced whiskey and rye". Visit for a "unique experience". Have a flight. Their "bourbon is delicious" and the "base rye" is "good" which "make a great Manhattan". Plus, the "barrel reserve" is "also delicious". When you want to sample, try their "flight in that order as the barrel reserve has the highest ABV content". It is "worth the drive on to try it out" and "it's not often you get a tasting with the person who blended and bottled the whiskey by hand".

Copper Shot Distillery

Distillery in Bastrop - 105.35 mi

Copper Shot Distillery is a small distillery in Bastrop established in May 2016. Owners Stephen and Cheri Todee named their distillery Copper Shot because the company includes a logo-engraved copper shot glass with each Copper Shot bottle. (At the distillery, you can purchase their bottles without the shot glass.) The distillery currently produces moonshine, vodka, and whiskeys at their downtown Bastrop location. They only use rain water, natural grains, and sugar for their handcrafted spirits. Some spirits occasionally require raw local honey. Stephen personally conducts the tours and tastings at the distillery. The distillery continues to operate during the tasting room's operating hours. Guests can actually see the production process while sipping their drinks! Cheri also sells distillery merchandise at the 150-year old tasting room. Every Friday and Saturday evenings, there’s a live music performance by local artists.
