Brash Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Houston - 20.78 mi

Brash Brewing Company is from the same man who brought Houston the famed Petrol Station, Ben Fullelove. The taproom opened to the public in late 2015, but the brewery was actually founded in 2012. Legal hurdles kept Ben from opening the brewery in Texas, and the brewery operated out of Massachusetts at its start. When Texas laws changed in 2013, Brash Brewing moved its operation back to Texas, and Brashland (Brash’s taproom) soon opened. Enthusiasts describe Brash Brewing as an “edgy brewery”. Their in-your-face attitude notwithstanding, the brewery scores many fans with its stouts and IPAs. The taproom is also heavy on the soundtrack with heavy metal playing at the jukebox. “You won’t find any strawberry beers or pilsners on tap,” says a review, but they do feature guest brews from other local breweries. Quick note: Many first-time visitors have difficulties finding Brashland. One last thing - they have circa 80's arcade games available!

Holler Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Houston - 21.64 mi

After a long circuitous life journey, husband and wife John and Kathryn found their true calling by establishing Holler Brewing Company. Thank the beer gods that the Hollers decided to move to Houston in 2009. To prepare, both ditched their unrelated old jobs, and separately undertook a different route towards the brewery business. John earned his diploma from Siebel Institute of Chicago. Kathryn, meanwhile, racked up hands-on experience at a brewery in Florida. In November 2016, they finally opened the brewery and haven’t looked back since. At the taproom, find a rotating list of about 6-8 beers. Stop by often. They have created over 100 brewing recipes since they started, and you’re bound to find something new with each visit. As if the beers aren’t enough, every Wednesday is Steak Night with their partner, Snow Topi.

Platypus Brewing

Craft Brewery in Houston - 21.83 mi

Platypus Brewing is a craft brewery and taproom serving “handcrafted beers and Australian-inspired comfort food” in cozy digs with a patio. Platypus Brewing brings together a traditional brewpub concept with a linger-worthy tasting room that promises beer flights and pubgrub. They have a mix of ales, ranging from the “smooth and dry-hopped red ales to classic American wheat options.” They also have a menu of cheeses and charcuterie plates, salads and Aussie-inspired items available at the kitchen. It will certainly leave a lasting impression for your event!

Under The Radar Brewery

Craft Brewery in Houston - 21.88 mi

As with other craft breweries, Under The Radar Brewery got its start in homebrewing. Its three founders brewed in their garage until they realized they could bring their hobby to the next level. Starting out small and opening without so much as a sign, the brewery’s name suggests how things were initially done at the brewery. It also found a perfect spot among condos and townhomes, and further bolsters the under-the-radar nature of the brewery. Their taproom, though small, has an outdoor area, and serves five “usuals” (their core beers) and a couple of seasonal/ special beers. It’s also kid- and dog-friendly, much like a backyard in one’s neighborhood. They’re not canning their brews yet, but do check their website for updates on where their beers are available.

True Anomaly Brewing Company

And, 10 years after and countless beer batches brewed, they finally decided to start a brewery. True Anomaly is also space-themed. This includes the building's exteriors. And also, the “contemporary-industrial interiors”. Plus, the NASA posters hanging from the walls and the names of its beers. All of which are related to the founders’ backgrounds.

Saint Arnold Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Houston - 23.57 mi

Saint Arnold Brewing Company is known for brewing world-class beers and delivering them to the customers as fresh as possible. Founded by Brock Wagner and Kevin Bartol, they chose Houston because it was the "largest city in the country that did not have a microbrewery." Brock was a longtime homebrewer and had considered opening a brewery as far back as college. Seven years after graduating, he revisited the idea, enlisted Kevin's help and the brewery was off and running. They brew several different beers that are available year round, as well as seasonal and a few single batch brews.
