Franconia Brewing Co.

Craft Brewery in Fredericksburg - 24.67 mi

Founded by Brewmaster Dennis Wehrmann, Franconia Brewing Co. is a company in McKinney that started operations in 2008. Dennis comes from a long family line of brewmasters. He traces his family’s involvement in beer to a great great grandfather. Grandfather Schaubert owned and operated a brewery in Germany in the 1800s. Dennis also got his start in traditional German brewing practices in Germany until his move to the U.S. in 1999. Under his guidance, Franconia strictly follows the Reinheitsgebot or German Purity Law. They only stray from tradition for special releases. The brewery is also equally known for their “green” brewing practices. The brewery’s eco-friendly facilities include an on-site mini-power plant that works on renewable fuels such as solar and natural gas. 100% of the plant's power requirement comes from these renewable sources. They use 100% natural ingredients and also donate spent mash for conversion to cattle feed by local farmers.

903 Brewers

Craft Brewery in Sherman - 25.37 mi

The Sasquatch Imperial Chocolate Milk Stout is one of 903 Brewers’ award-winning beer, and its biggest triumph so far. It won the silver in the 2015 Great American Beer Festival in the aged beer category. The brewery is owned by husband and wife team Jeremy and Natalie Roberts, and they opened the brewery’s door to the public in 2013. Their first hits, The Chosen One Coconut Ale and Roo’s Red Ale continue to be bestsellers. The taproom at Sherman serves both the mainstays as well as seasonal and special release brews. It also serves food courtesy of the Grilled Cheese Company & Pies, a company owned by Jeremy’s parents. Here’s how good their beers are from a reviewer: “I never thought I would be one of those people… who will drive for a great beer…[even if it’s] about 45 minutes outside of Dallas.” The brewery hosts trivia nights movie nights, too, so go catch a Sasquatch!

Tupps Brewery

Craft Brewery in McKinney - 25.87 mi

The “Tupps” in TUPPS Brewery is Tupper Patnode, its co-founder, head brewer, and half of a two-man partnership. Its other half is co-founder Keith Lewis, a sales and marketing guy. Together, they blend art and science, and sprinkle in some business savvy to run a successful brewery. They start with great beer, which accounts for the artistic side, and use the senses to create, validate, and refine the beers. The scientific side comes in “to ensure quality and consistency in the brewing process”. A brewery is a business, however, and needs business smarts. For TUPPS, that means using management tools to streamline operations or taking in an excellent distribution partner. It seems Keith and Tupper perfected beer brewing. They opened in 2015, and a year later, production grew by 400 percent in total volume. Visit TUPPS at McKinney’s historic Cotton Mill complex and see for yourself. They have free tours every Saturday at 12:30pm.

Cellarman’s Pub & Brewery

Craft Brewery in Sherman - 26.94 mi

Opened in 1998 as a pub, the Cellarman’s Pub & Brewery started out serving just five craft beers and a relatively small menu. With its license approved in 2016, the 100-seat pub planned to expand to 200-seats and to establish its own brewery on-site. In February 2018, the new Cellarman’s opened and guests got a view of the brewery’s equipment at the back of the pub. The brewpub also built its own grain silo on the premises. The brewpub has since built its offerings to about a dozen craft beers produced by the brewpub's own brewery. They also offer draughts from other breweries, and 100 local and imported bottled beers. The large menu now includes their own gourmet pizzas coming from their wood-fired stone oven, burgers, oysters, and more. The bar also has over 200 spirits, a selection of wines, and house specialty mixed drinks.

Ivanhoe Ale Works

Craft Brewery in Denison - 29.41 mi

Gabe Parker bought the building where Ivanhoe Ale Works stands for $10 -- a gut job that Gabe’s wife thought could never be repaired. Meanwhile, Homestead Winery, stood just next door. Also owned by Gabe, the winery started operations in 1989 making it the oldest continually operating winery located in the Red River Valley of North Texas. To start Ivanhoe Ale Works, Gabe partnered with brewmaster Johnny Wells. Opened in May 2015, they subsequently restored to the old building to its art deco roots. Gabe’s unique vision allows wine and beer drinkers to come together in one taproom – Texas’ first brew-winery! The brewery’s lineup of beers includes their Ivanhoe IPA. In an interview, Gabe says he got started with the winery after his wife gave him a wine making kit. A few years before establishing the brewery, she gave him a home brewing kit. These days, he wonders what’s next.

They eventually named their brewery in honor of their Woodcreek neighborhood in Fate, Texas. "These folks are awesome! Lots of great beers, and plenty to choose from". Also, "would also highly recommend their IPA, Bock, Vanilla Porter, and Strawberry Rhubarb beer". Finally, Noah and Brad initially applied their licenses for Longhorn Brewing Company. The road to opening the taproom was long and bumpy, but they finally opened on St. Patrick’s Day 2017. They currently have a lineup of 13 beers including the well-received Black Sacrament (an American Imperial Stout). With more beers planned for launch, the duo invites fans to join The Breakfast Club. Bankhead Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Rowlett - 39.24 mi

Bankhead Brewing Company is the brainchild of chef Kevin Lefere and brewmaster Ryan Pyle. They were both eager to open their own brewpubs, but didn't feel equipped to operate and manage a successful brewpub on their own. A chance introduction by mutual friends in 2014 eventually blossomed into a partnership. By Spring 2016, they opened Bankhead Brewing Company. The brewery’s namesake is the old Bankhead highway. Built in 1916, the highway ran from Washington, D.C. to San Diego and spanned downtown Rowlett. The pioneering spirit that built the highway reflects the same spirit that inspired its founders to build their own brewery and restaurant. One hundred years later, the pair are serving their award-winning craft beers and delicious, fresh-from-the-wood-burning-oven food in downtown Rowlett.

The brewery is Richardson’s first and fondly called “the smallest brewery in Dallas”. The brewery started with just four craft beer varieties when they opened, and now has over a dozen varieties. The owners like to say they are not in competition with big, large breweries. Instead, they wish to be known as “a neighborhood brewery catering to the Richardson area”.  With tasty offerings like their popular Royal Flush Red Irish-style pale ale, all Four Bullets beers have casino or poker-themed names.

With the mantra “good people deserve great beer”, the co-founders are dedicated to brewing “the highest quality craft beer available”. This “small town brewery” stands on a building that was built in 1907. It has a kid- and a dog-friendly environment with a wide selection of in-house brews. “You’d only expect (this brewery) in a much larger city… the best cold brews in town!” It is really "fortunate" that there is "this amazing brewery" which is really "fitting for some of the coolest hangouts in Uptown Dallas or Austin!"

Bitter Sisters Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Addison - 46.54 mi

Bitter Sisters Brewing Company is the only production brewery in Addison. An independent, family-owned craft brewery, it takes its name from the three "type-A McHugh sisters". Baby brother and wife are part of the business, too, as are the sisters’ husbands. Together, they own Bitter Sisters, and each doing his or her part so the company can produce award-winning craft beers. This makes the brewery and the taproom a real family affair, with beers that have memorable and distinctly female names like Hissy Fit, Cat Fight, Winter Bush, Girls Quad, Bitch Slap, Knock Out, and Busy Body. The brewery started coming together when Brewmaster Matt Ehinger married one of the sisters, Courtney, and quickly realized that beer – his home-brewed beer – made everyone less “bitter”. Eventually, the idea of putting up a brewery was hatched. And as they say, “the family that brews together... has the most fun”!

White Rock Alehouse & Brewery

Craft Brewery in Dallas - 49.45 mi

White Rock Alehouse & Brewery founders Dave Kirk and Greg Nixon are confident they have found the perfect location for their brewpub. The duo initially identified “a need for a destination that focused on craft beer, craft cocktails, and a smart menu”. Their brewpub happens to afford access to White Rock Creek Trail. This means one can have a beer or two after a walk, run, or bike around the White Rock Lake. It’s perfect for those seeking a place to rest and relax. The brewpub also offers up 36 beers on tap. Some beers also come from the brewery’s own lineup of craft beers. This lineup also includes their 2019 US Open Beer Championships silver medal winner IPO IPA. The brewpub also serves a line of carefully selected brews from local breweries and breweries from across the country.

3 Nations Brewing Co.

Craft Brewery in Farmers Branch - 49.83 mi
