Zilker Brewing Co

Craft Brewery in Austin - 37.51 mi

Clark brothers Patrick and Forrest and their best friend from high school Marco Rodriguez started brewing in 2008. After winning numerous awards in brewing competitions, the three decided to dive in and open “the brewery of their dreams”. They eventually quit their jobs and pooled their savings, and with help from outside inventors, opened in April 2015. Many breweries usually locate themselves in industrial parks on the outskirts of town. Zilker Brewing Company, meanwhile, is on East 6^th, which makes it an ideal urban craft brewery and taproom in “the heart of East Austin”. They currently have a lineup of four "mainstays" and about 15 seasonal brews. To sample their delicious beers, proceed to the brewery's “sleek and industrial” taproom. Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches started in 2017 as a family-owned and operated kolache bakery, taproom, and retail craft beer shop. Founders and brothers Noah and Josh Lit introduced Austinites to their preference of downing their kolaches with their favorite beers. Batch's beer selection came from local craft breweries and European breweries. In addition, they also had cans and bottles from many breweries, and coffee for non-beer drinkers. After a couple of years just serving other breweries’ beers with their kolaches, the brothers collaborated with John Snyder and Heath Shuford. Together, they launched a 2019 Kickstarter campaign to start their own brewery. Batch has since released their first batch for their 2^nd year anniversary celebration in August 2019 – a “saison aged in Cabernet barrels with pink peppercorns, Texas wildflower honey, and dandelion”. They also sold Batch Bottle Club, Elite Brewery, and Beer for Life memberships, which ended in October 2019.

Oddwood Ales

Oddwood Ales is a small brewery and pub in East Austin that specialize on making American style wild ales, lagers and hoppy pale ales but also aim to fill the tap wall with the best representations of many beer types. They also have wine and food menu such as small thin crust bar pizza and other Italian fare. To complement this, they pulled together a list of Italian wines with the help from “Alex Bell of Aviary Wine & Kitchen.” Their space was designed as a cozy neighborhood pub. The place has ample parking options, large indoor seating with lots of fun video and arcade games. They also offer a fabulous happy hour where beers are $2 off and pizzas are $5.

Central District Brewing

The Central District Brewing – as the name implies – is centrally located in Downtown Austin. Opened in March 2019, they opened to serve local Austin beers. Starting May 2019, however, the brewery released their first batch of brews. The brewery is “very well located” at the ground floor of the parking garage next to the Austin Convention Center. That means you won’t ever have to worry about parking! It’s also “an easy walk to the nightlife on 6^th Street”. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from nearby, and it’s “close to the Hilton and Fairmont”. That affirms the popular real estate saying of “location, location, location”! And the beers? The brewery won gold at the 2019 Great American Beer Festival within less than a year of operation for their Wit-tington and beat more established breweries. They’ve also started releasing their first sodas for non-beer drinkers!
