Goliad Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Goliad - 33.79 mi

Goliad Brewing Company takes its name after the small town of Goliad. The town’s battle cry “Remember Goliad” reflects its importance in Texas history. The brewery, established in 2014, similarly calls on its guests to remember the town’s storied past. It is located on a 50-acre property and takes “going local” seriously. The brewery draws 60% of its water from a well located inside the property. Owner John Wilkerson, head brewer Stefan Zurakowski, and sales and marketing head Mark Nichols honors the importance of going local in other ways as well. They named one of their brews, a Mexican style lager, after Cinco de Mayo hero General Ignacio Zaragoza, who was born in Goliad. They also invite visitors to enjoy the park-like atmosphere of the brewery from Mondays to Saturdays. The brewery and beer garden, though, only serves their beers on Fridays and Saturdays.

Cactus Land Brewing Company

Craft Brewery in Adkins - 46.65 mi

Cactus Land Brewing Company was named after the prickly pear cactus growing on the 7-acre property it is situated on. Husband-and-wife Dustin and Erica Teague started, just like other brewers before them, with homebrewing. And like other brewers, they have had hits and misses. “The first brew was awful,” recalls Erica during an interview, and the cleanup as Erica described it seemed brutal. Determined, they doggedly continued, and eventually, started winning homebrewing competitions. Finally, with their Texas license approved on June 2016, they started building their brewery. The DIYers worked at night away from their day jobs and on weekends, and successfully completed a Kickstarter campaign. Since their initial opening, they’ve added a stage, a covered patio, and fenced in a large open area for kids. As a small artisanal brewery, Cactus Land remains committed to creating “diverse beer for diverse people”. Currently, they keep their operation manageable by opening only during the first and third weekends of each month.

Wild Bunch Brewing Co.

Craft Brewery in Georgetown - 48.32 mi

Open since 2017 and located “in the middle of nowhere”, Wild Bunch Brewery announces its presence once you see its handwritten sign. Brew master Jarle Lillemoen owns and operates Wild Bunch Brewing Company. He and Managing Member Jamie Caras both hold doctoral degrees in biochemistry, which should come in handy at the brewery. Calling his beer the “best damn beer in Texas”, Jarle only uses “high quality ingredients” in his “100% unfiltered beers”. He also uses the traditional method of brewing using an open propane flame throughout the process. He is also non-traditional in the age of state-of-the-art brewing equipment. Yet, his method yields “richer, more intense flavors and colors”. A blogger writes that Wild Bunch as of October 2019 offers seven beers served in jam jars at their taproom. Not bad for a brewery that’s designed and hand-built by Jarle himself. Finally, prior to establishing Wild Bunch, Jarle was the master distiller at Bone Spirits Distillery in Smithville.
